With the regular bashing of PGP…

What are you folks using (or planning to use) as alternatives.

I may be in the minority but I do regularly use Asym crypto to send confidential files to other folks who are comfortable using GPG. I also use signatures fairly regularly.

I have come across MiniSign which seems pretty cool if ECDSA using 25519 is enough for you. It’s a lightweight replacement for GPG sigs. However what are people using for Asym encryption (which I like as I don’t have to share secret keys).

Are people rolling their own front-end to lib sodium?

One final thought, the adage “don’t roll your own crypto” seems to be forgotten when recommending LibSodium. It’s got lots of contributors but was started by just some guy.

Cryptography is the art of creating mathematical assurances for who can do what with data, including but not limited the classical example of encrypting messages so that only the key-holder can read it. Cryptography lives at an intersection of math, programming, and computer science. This subreddit covers the theory and practice of modern and *strong* cryptography, and it is a technical subreddit focused on the algorithms and implementations of cryptography.
