I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what needs to happen with my various digital assets when I die. Specifically: how to ensure the people who need access (ie, wife, kids, will executor) can get it, while also preventing single points of failure and unauthorized access while I’m alive.
I don’t want to have a list of passwords written down somewhere, but my wife -bless her- is also not going to have a clue how to use a one-time password + one-time 2FA to get into my password manager in order to access my email. And veracrypt? Good luck.
Any tips for balancing security with making things accessible for the average joe postmortem?
