Question about solar charging a Jackery portable battery Total newbie question here. I purcharsed a Jackery Explorer portable battery that accepts solar charging through a “Input (DC 8MM): 12V~30V 42W Max ” port. Jackery actually sells their own brand 100W solar panel to plug into this port, but it costs $350 and is not waterproof. I was wondering if I could just buy this $80 waterproof panel from Texas Solar instead and connect it using this MC4 to DC 8mm cable. I’m am concerned about whether I need an additional…

It uses three panels to produce a maximum of 780W through a Midnite Solar KID MPPT charge controller to a 5kWh 24V battery bank assembled from four 104Ah AGM batteries. The bank has stayed fully charged the last few days since the weather is cooling off,…

My 15.75kW solar array timelapse

My 15.75kW solar array timelapse I finally decided to get solar for my house before the tax incentives went away but I didn’t want to pay the huge markup fees by these solar companies. Over the years, I’ve had quotes ranging from $45k-$60k for the size array I wanted. No bueno. So I started doing a lot of research and pricing on spec’ing the project myself. I picked the panels and micro-inverters then went to a company locally that sold them. They didn’t sell directly to the public though so…
